Bethesda announces they will no longer be providing review copies of games

In a move that is ultimately bad for the consumer, Bethesda has announced they will only provide review copies of games a day before the official release. Bethesda claim this is because “we want everyone, including those in the media, to experience our games at the same time” but in reality this probably leads to increased sales at release date as people won’t be able to gauge the games quality beforehand and are more likely to blind purchase.

I suspect others will shortly follow in Bethesda’s footsteps as not providing review copies has become well known as a sign of a bad game - thus this will leave consumers further in the dark.

At the end of the day though, you still don’t have to buy the game on release date and urge patience from gamers when it comes to choosing what to buy. Stop letting developers get away with bad games people!

You can read the full press release here. You’ll probably get taken to the silly date of birth checker and then re-directed back to their home page so just to note the press release is in the ‘News’ area.
